Hot Hot Hot Glue Gun Accident

I was all prepared to talk about dinner and friends, to rob a phrase from Lavender Blue Wines, but,  while preparing for tomorrow’s dinner and friends, I had a slight accident with my glue gun.  I gotta tell you, that sucker gets HOT!  OMG, I couldn’t believe it.  One minute I was gluing a picture frame and the photo slipped and the next thing I knew it, I had hot glued two spots on my left hand.  OUCH!!!

First of all, I’m right handed, but I use my left hand for my mouse and to try to type this blog.  So, I come to you hunting and pecking this evening.  I use my left hand to open the door to get the mail, I use my left hand to slice and dice and - you know what - I guess I use my left hand for EVERYTHING!

I took a one handed shower this afternoon and some shampoo went into my eye, since I use my left hand in the SHOWER too, I guess I couldn’t manage.  So, the pain in my eye took my mind off my left hand, momentarily at least.

If you’ve never had the experience of burning your hand or any part of your body - but I guess I’d like you to tell me THAT story - let me tell you that the hot glue when it gets on your skin - it just keeps on burning and burning.  I took off at least two layers of skin peeling the hot stuff off.  It wasn’t until it was removed that I realized that my skin came off with it.

Feeling a little squeamish at the moment hearing that tale? - well imagine how I felt.  Then to add insult to injury, my husband had to bandage my boo-boos with Sponge Bob Band Aids.  Why, because that’s all we seem to have in the house - and very few of them, Kaitlyn!, Dana!

So, the moral of this story - use extreme caution when hot gluing anything, including picture frames.

Tomorrow - stay tuned to my Dinner and Friends story that will be leftover from this evening - not to be confused with the great food we’ll be having tomorow - not leftovers.  Promise!
