Must Love Cats - Absolutely We Do
We do love our “mules” as we call our ani-mules. Currently, we are owned by 4 very social cats. As I write this, our fat boy, Tiki is gracing the deck in front of our sliders - stretched out - full length - in all his glory. AND I’m sure if I got up from the desk, I’d easily find the other ones in similar repose throughout the house.
So, it’s no surprise that we’ll be exhibiting this weekend at the Garden State Cat Club’s Cat Show at the NJ Exhibition Center in Somerset, NJ. It’s a two day show that runs Saturday and Sunday, July 17 & 18, 2010. Hello Kitty is rumored to be attending and Animal Planet will be filming there some time over the weekend too. Their Must Love Cats show will be airing in January and I suspect they will be looking for a few hams to add to their purr-fect lineup.
In addition to great advice on pet care, there’ll be items for your cat - collars, carriages, anything their little heart could want. Don’t forget the great animal related items that Botanical Accents (moi!) will be bringing - such as kitchen towels, cat (and dog) doorstops, flags and so much more. There will also be several shelters in attendance with their fantastic felines available for adoption on both days. Don’t want to adopt? Well, they’ll gladly take your donations!
At last year’s show, we were lucky enough to adopt Mr. Bo Giles from the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City. He’s a long haired black & white tuxedo cat. He adopted us really - not the other way around. When we got him, his name was Jiles, but it just wasn’t sophisticated enough for him - so he became Mr. Bo Giles. At his first visit to the vet - when he had to present “his papers please” - the receptionist said that his name was Jiles with a “J”. I had to explain to her that he preferred it with a “G”.
So, it’s been a year since the last Cat Show and he’s graced our lives ever since. We don’t intend to adopt any others this year. Four is a nice round number, but you know what they say - Cats are like potato chips - you can’t just have one (or four)! You never know…
